Scope, and the edges of it

This covers 17 named beaches and swimming spots between Malta, Gozo and Comino: sand, rock, shingle and two lagoons you can only reach by boat. Nine have their own long guide, and the ones that do not still carry a full write-up on the homepage, entry conditions, shade, crowding, the lot. A companion page sorts out which of the seventeen a public bus can genuinely get you to, since more than a few of the best cannot.

Deliberately absent: Valletta, Mdina, the temples, the nightlife, the museums. Covering all of Malta on one site tends to mean covering none of it well, so this one picked a lane and stayed in it.

Where the top 10 comes from

Ten of the seventeen get ranked against each other on the front page, and the criterion sits above the list, not buried in a footnote: the swim, judged on clarity, entry, shade, crowding, swimmable distance and how much effort getting there costs. Nothing about a partner's stock or a commission rate enters into that order. Disagree with where something lands and you are arguing with a stated method, not a black box, which is the point of publishing it up front. Wherever a ranked entry has its own guide, its name links there.

Nobody's byline is on this

There is no company letterhead behind these pages and no tourism office signing off on the copy. It is put together and kept current by whoever last checked the water, and that person's name is deliberately absent, because the only thing that should carry weight here is whether a claim about a beach holds up, not who wrote it down.

How this gets held to account

• No number we cannot stand behind. Admission charges, parking tariffs and bus timetables all belong to somebody else and all move without warning, so none of them are printed here as our own. A gap in a page beats a figure that turns out to be last year's.
• Our guesses are labelled as guesses. A descent time, a crowd estimate, how long to budget: ours, said plainly, never passed off as something measured.
• A partner's price or score stays the partner's. Every figure on a booking panel carries the name of the company it came from and the date it was read. None of it was collected here.
• An empty booking panel is worse than no beach. Six of the seventeen places currently have nothing to book, and two of those six are names most people search for by themselves. Both still get the full write-up, because a site about the coast that quietly drops the two most obvious bays on it would be lying by omission.
• Nothing gets invented to pad a page out. No reviews we wrote ourselves, no "visitors say" quotes, and no pretending a trip happened that never did.

The pictures are not photographs

Every scene next to a beach name here was generated to order rather than shot on location, a deliberate stand-in for the light and the colour of a coastline rather than a record of any particular afternoon. Treat one as evidence of nothing beyond mood. A picture inside a booking panel is a different matter entirely: that one belongs to the partner selling the product, comes straight from their own server, and is covered in detail on the cookie policy.

Who actually pays for this

Four companies: Tiqets, Klook, KKday and WeGoTrip. A booking made after following one of their links here sends a share back this way, at whatever price that company was already charging, so the arrangement changes nothing about what you pay. Beyond those four, nobody has a stake in anything written on this site, and there is no advertising slot anywhere to sell.

Caught us out?

A bay's access, its parking, even whether the water is worth it can shift between one August and the next, and a write-up done from a desk cannot always keep pace. If you were there more recently than we were and something here reads wrong, say so and the page gets fixed, not defended.
